Welcome
Welcome to the 6th International Conference of Palaeogeography!
The International Conference of Palaeogeography (ICP) is a biennial event that aims to foster international academic exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration in palaeogeography and related fields, including for example the prediction and exploration of energy and mineral resources worldwide. Since its inception in 2013, five ICPs have been held, in Beijing (2013), Beijing (2015), Chengdu (2017), Beijing (2019) and Wuhan (2022), respectively.
The International Society of Palaeogeography Council decided in 2022 that, based on the recommendation of the late honorary president of the International Society of Palaeogeography, Prof. Zengzhao FENG, the 6th International Conference of Palaeogeography would be held in Nanjing, China in May 2024. It is co-sponsored by the International Society of Palaeogeography, the Palaeontological Society of China, China University of Petroleum, Beijing, the Editorial Committee of the Journal of Palaeogeography, and the Lithofacies Palaeogeography Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry. The 6th International Conference of Palaeogeography is organized by Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, together with some co-organizing institutions. The conference is supported by the Bureau of International Cooperation, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Three field trips are organized with the conference: one pre- and two post-conference field trips. In the pre-conference field trip participants will visit several classic stratigraphic sections and biotas of Neoproterozoic and Palaeozoic in the border area of Anhui and Zhejiang. In the two post-conference field trips participants will visit many classic stratigraphic sections and exceptional-preserved biotas of Neoproterozoic to Palaeozoic in Hubei and Hunan (F2), and many classic sections of Middle Jurassic to Early Cretaceous terrestrial facies and a few fossil sites of the Jehol Biota in the Inner Mongolia and Liaoning (F3).
The main theme of the conference is “Life Evolution, Palaeogeography, and Resources”. The conference brings together the members of the International Society of Palaeogeography, as well as many internationally renowned experts and young scholars from around the world. The conference has attracted over 700 experts and scholars from more than 25 countries, who involve various sectors including geology, oil, coal, research institutes, universities, publishing houses, and so on.
The conference invites 6 plenary talks and set up over 40 sessions with 7 themes. Over 800 abstracts have been accepted for the conference, including 566 for oral presentations, and 228 for poster presentations. We aim to make this conference a multi-disciplinary, international academic exchange event.
Venue
